Title: First 67 years, from 1860, of the Bromsgrove Messenger on-line for FREE
Post by: Yegvard on Friday 14 June 13 14:37 BST (UK)
The Bromsgrove branch of BMSGH is pleased to announce that the first 67 years of the local newspaper have been uploaded in .pdf form.  Although these are not searchable they can be downloaded and saved.

Chris El-Amir has very kindly transcribed a small selection of a few, complete, years of Birth, Marriage, Death and In Memoriam announcements.  Even far away relatives can be identified: try entering Australia.  Despite the quality of the work, we still advise checking the original article -  it's all FREE.  And, please, remember newspapers are not primary evidence.

WHAT To Do.  Go to http://www.bromsgrovebmsgh.co.uk/ and Log-in.  You will notice that the Resources Box on the left expands.  The two new items are links to the newspapers and the Birth, Marriage and Death transcriptions.

The easiest way is to search by surname (e.g. Smith). As well as indexed entries (i.e. notices for people called 'Smith'), this will also return non-indexed entries where a name occurs in a listing in some other context (for example as a witness or an employer).

You may also search by first-name, by year or by notice type (e.g. marriage), but combinations of filters may not be used.

The notices cover Birth, Marriage and Death announcements, as well as In Memoriam listings.

Good  luck

Mike
