Do you have him in any other censuses? My first thought is that his name may have been misspelled/mistranscribed/generally misinterpreted.  :-\

You mention 1851 twice in your question - is one of those meant to be 1861?  :-\ I can see a Lawrence McKee in 1861 b Ireland 1825 with wife Bridget living in Wolverhampton. Is this your La*rence?

Nc,

I think it's fairly safe to assume that the family were in Newcastle if Thomas was born there.  :) Censuses are a good way to trace the movements of a family if their children were born in various places.

Being a dock labourer he was likely to have been in Newcastle for the work.

The information provided by rosie for the 1851 census is probably all that you will ever find out about Laurence's movements. You could purchase Thomas's birth certificate which would give the address of the family as he was likely to have been born at home, plus it will give Laurence's occupation. This one looks like it matches up quite well:

Births Mar 1848
McKee Thomas
Newcastle Tyne
25 377
(if you wanted to order it you could specify that you want the father to be Laurence (or similiar) so they don't issue the certificate if it is not your Thomas)

Do you know where Laurence and Sarah married? (To try to work out when they arrived in Newcastle)

Hi Nc

What other information are you after.  You have the 1851 which you originally asked for is there something else we can help with. If it is the marriage I think you will need to purchase the certificate for further details.

Rosie   :)

Hello again,
I posted this information for you in reply 7. It doesn't look as though there is much more info.
As Rosie says, are you looking for more details or are you just trying to link Laurence to your other McKee interests.
When he remarried, his father is given as Thomas. Does that help you at all?
