how do you do dna test for siblings in different countries and does cancer treatment effect the dna results?any info gratefully received. thanks sue

Hi Sue,
It doesn't matter where you live, you can order a DNA test from the same company. A test kit will be sent to your address, you swab a few cells from the inside of your cheek, and post it back to the lab. The results will then be available online when the test is complete.
Cancer treatment should have no effect on the DNA results. Most test results for genealogy purposes contain no health related information. If you wanted a more health oriented test I would go with the testing company 23andMe (https://www.23andme.com/).

thankyou very much alexander, much appreciated . i wasn't sure whether chemotherapy and radiation would cause damage. regards sue

Radiation and chemotherapy do damage DNA, but should not effect the results of a genealogy DNA test. Family Tree DNA does recommend waiting one week after radiation therapy before taking a sample.
