Does anyone have anything on the Cook family in Standon?
I have great grandfather Henry Randall COOK born Ware , with his wife and children from 1881 census Hackney
Henry seems to have been son of David Cook and Julia and family in Sandon from 1861 & 1871 census
Anyone have anything ? marriage? connections? siblings ?occupation?

Hi Annie,
There is a fourth item from the 1851 which I should have given you viz -
Item 24 Newhall Farm, Babbs Green.
Thomas Cook Head M 23 Ag Lab Bn. Standon
Maria Cook Wife M 23 Ware.
I have traced Julia back to the 1841 at Babbs Green.
Edmund Randel 45 Farmer, Ann wife 45, Joseph 15 Ag lab, JULIA 10, George 9, Ann 5. All born in county.
A quick start on the Cook family in the parish records has revealed -
Standon. Baptism 4th February 1827 -
David Cook s/o Joseph & Sarah. Add. Latchford Occ.Lab.
Standon Marriage 27th November 1813 -
Joseph Cook & Sarah Warwick. Witnesses James Cook, Mary Ann Cook and Samuel Pickett. (Mr.Pickett must be a church official as he witnessed most marriages at the time.)
Wareside. Baptism 4th May 1856 -
Henry Randell Cook s/o David & Julia occ. Lab.
(Name John crossed out and Henry inserted in the parish register)
Wareside. Marriage 9th September 1851 after banns
David Cooke & Julia Randle. Lab. both from Babbs Green.
Fathers Joseph Cooke, Lab and Edmund Randle, Brewer.
Witnesses. George Randle and Anne Randle.
Hope this will be of interest. If you need any further parish lookups just let me know.

Following up on your information from years ago !!
Do you have access to 1851 - 1861 1871 census ?
these two from 1841 census Newhall Farm, Babbs Green.
Thomas Cook Head 23 Ag Lab Bn. Standon b circa 1818
Maria Cook Wife 23 Ware.
Were still at New Hall Farm 50 years later
Census 1891 New Hall Green No.2.
COOK Thomas 64 Gardener(Em'ee) Hertfordshire - Standon
COOK Maria 63 Hertfordshire - New Hall Green
BUT were there children in the intervening years ?
I cant actually link them to my Cooks for certain yet as there seem to be numerous families of Cooks around that area. I do have a Thomas Cook son of John & Frances but the dates dont work
THOMAS COOK christening: 26 Dec 1790 FLAMSTEAD.
I am also curious about the John Cook and Frances Howe marriage in 1790that you so kindly sent me . I cant find it on the Hert excellent website - https://www.hertsdirect.org/ufs/ufsmain?ebz=4_1403442724607&ebd=0
plus there are other John Cook & Frances marriages which fit better . 1st child
JOHN COOK christening: 30 August 1789 FLAMSTEAD,
John Cook M Frances Humpreys at Wheathampstead 4 Mar 1783
(Wheathampstead is in the City and District of St Albans, in the Hitchin and Harpenden parliamentary constituency.)
John Cook M Frances Parrat in Great Gaddesden 8 May 1789 ( This seems a more likely choice given the birth dates for the children . Great Gaddesden is north of Hemel Hempstead. The parish borders to Flamstead, Hemel Hempstead, Nettleden and Little Gaddesden and also to Studham in Bedfordshire.)
