iv426 Some old death records did show place of burial but not lair etc.
You could try the Scottish borders Council Bereavement office at Newtown St Boswells who hold the burial records. You may find out where he was buried or even the parents but it doesnt mean there is a headstone for information. If it was a tragic death maybe the local paper ie selkirk Advertiser, Border telegraph or the Southern reporter(try Hawick Heritage hub) may have reported it or an obituary recorded.
