Looking for my Grandmothers residence, Siblings, Parents and any info would be good, Rumour has it she was tied in with a family in the name of Luff? born 1887 Huntingdonshire

There's an Ada Lewin (no middle name) on the 1891 born 1885 in Abbots Ripton, Hunts - ref RG12 piece 1237 folio 77 page 3.

There were two Ada Lewins - the one that Miriam found, born c1885 at Abbots Ripton who in 1901 was a servant in Catworth, and the other Ada I who was born in Catworth c1887. Abbots Ripton looks to be the wrong family.
Why can't I see a birth registration for her!

Or that Ada was the illegitimate daughter of Eliza Lewin age 19, so her name really was Ada Lewin. As I can't see her birth registration it might be easier to get the Luff/Lewin marriage cert to see if Eliza was a widow or a spinster and to get her father's name

FreeBMD lists the birth of an Ada Isabel Lewin in St Neots June qtr 1887 but the reference number is rather faded

Hi, I've sent off for the marriage cert for Ada's Mum (Eliza Lewin) I did notice that the names mentioned where Luff, Lewin & Pryke, Wondering if Pryke was her Maiden name? found her younger sister Ethel who was born 10 months before Lewin/Luff marriage and although she has a Luff surname wondered if she was actually a Lewin....????

I am not sure where Pryke comes from on the reference to the marriage of Stephen Luff and Eliza Lewin, but there does appear to be a Eliza Pryke in the 1871 and 1881 of the right age born in Bythorn - Below in 1881 living at Church End, Great Catworth with her family.

Hi Kay,
My certificate arrived today and it says :- 1890 Catworth, Eliza Lewin, 22, Widow, Father George Pryke deceased, So that clears things up for me. Just got to find a Pryke/Lewin marriage or a Lewin Death/Burial

Thanks for letting us know and at least it confirms it is Eliza Pryke. I still can't see a marriage or obvious death. I wonder if Ada's birth cert actually lists her father?
