Can anyone point me in the right direction regarding the above?
I am trying to trace my great, great, great grandmother's birth.According to the 1851 and 1861 England census she was a British Subject born in Gibraltar in about 1785-1790
I think she was either Ruth Rennison or possibly Ruth Bensusan.
Many thanks

Hi Ledge,
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/bmdatseaorabroad.htm
or
http://www.familyrelatives.com/information/info_detail.php?id=100
Bensusan surname origins: http://surnames.enacademic.com/5956/Bensusan
As her first name was Ruth, I would say Bensusan is a strong possibility.
Or Rennison: http://www.surnamedb.com/Surname/Rennison

Hello , did you get any further with Ruth Rennison? Or Bensusan? She was my great great great grandma going back down the shepherd line, the Gibraltar birth was a good avenue to follow but you may have got this information by now as it’s an old post . Thanks
