I am helping a friend with her family tree, and have got stuck!
Julia June Maker was born 12th June 1927 in Derry.
She moved to England, married in Folkestone in 1957, and died in Surrey in 2003.
I would like to obtain her birth certificate, but GRONI want me to provide parents names, and mother's maiden name?!
But that's the reason I want a birth certificate! ::)
Is there any other way I can obtain the birth certificate?
1911 census doesn't show any Maker surnames in Derry?!

She could have been born in Derry (either the county or the city) but the latest available census is 16 years before she was born so the family could have lived absolutely anywhere.
Usual advice- get marriage certificate to see father's name and occupation and work back from there.
Warning: if she was illegitimate then her father's name will be unlikely to be on marriage or birth certificate.

As Aghadowey suggests, you could of course get the father's name from the English marriage certificate. If it is James Maker then there is a 1917 marriage in Londonderry which would seem likely - the spouse being either Julia Walker or Jeannie Crawford. (1Q 1917, Vol 2 Page 189)
Then there are several Maker children born in Londonderry pre-1922:
John 1917
Andrew 1919
Clarise Martha and Mary JM in 1921

If the above details are the correct family them there seems to be only 1 possible James Maker in the 1911 census- age 21 and servant (chauffeur) for a circus proprietor but born Gorey (which is probably the one in Co. Wexford)-

James Maker and Julia Walker married in Strand 2nd Presbyterian Church, Londonderry and
Thomas Henry Gordon Maker and Sarah Mills married in All Saints Clooney Church of Ireland, Lomdonderry.

I had a feeling the marriage certificate was the way to go, but just wanted to check with the NI experts as to whether any sources for post-1922 Derry/Londonderry existed!
I have details of her husband - born Glasgow, and baptised RC.
I will see my friend later today, so will ask what she might remember about Julia.
Religious denomination, relatives names, etc.

According to my aunt, the Maker family lived in Dunegiven Road Waterside Londonderry.
Her childhood friend was June who went to England. She was 2 years older , so would be born about 1927.
And remembers Andy Maker , who was killed during the war - 'His boat was sunk'.
They were members of All Saints Clooney, Church of Ireland.
Unfortunately she only knew her parents as Mr. & Mrs. Maker.

UPDATE!
I have made progress on this family ;D
Julia June Maker (known as June) married James O'Reilly, as was said before in 1957, Folkestone.
June had 4 brothers (John, Andrew, James, Walter) and 3 sisters (Clarice, Mary and Sarah).
Her parents, James Maker and Julia Walker married in Limavady, Londonderry in January 1917.
James Maker was a bandsman in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.
First son, John was born in April 1917 :o
James was born in Kensington, London in 1896 but remained in Londonderry/Derry until his death in 1947.
The Maker family were all London born for 2 generations, and Tavistock, Devon before that!
