Title: Adam Gordon & family(c1780) - Brick Wall
Post by: aspin on Tuesday 20 August 13 20:38 BST (UK)
I am at the end of my family brick wall and wondered if anyone in Scotland
 are searching this family
Adam Gordon and his wife Margaret (sorry no more on this couple )
They had two sons that I know of
James Gordon born 1778 Helmsdale and
Robert Gordon born 1782 also Helmsdale

If you have this family in your tree could you help me out

At the end of your brick wall sounds as if you've solved the puzzle, but your post indicates otherwise?  ??? ??? ???

Just like Dawn, I read the title to mean that your brick wall has been demolished?

If that is not the case, maybe you should start a new thread with a more suitable title?
Like with a name in the title - as per RootsChat guidelines?

As it is I really have no idea if you are asking a question or not :-\

Thank you Ghostwhispers
That was just great
I have now found a little more from Scotlandpeople

Adam Gordon Jun was born 25.3.1832 so Helmsdale so may well be my Adam
Gordon and Adam have come down the family to my late brother Gordon and still alive my nephew
not sadly but he has 5 daughters so the Gordon name has stopped .
My uncle was Gordon Adam but always was known as uncle Gordon .

Thank you for your help
I do know I have one living relative on my McKenzie side living in Helmsdale but she doesn't seem interested sad isn't it ,as I have posted documents and photos to her via Timespan in Helmsdale
I would love to meet her for a chat or contact her although I do know she is not on the internet

I'm interested in any of my Helmsdale relatives if any are around

A fine day to al!
My 5th great gparents were Harriet MacKay, daughter of Rev. Thomas MacKay, and Rev George Gordon of Loth, 1765-1822. His father was Adam Gordon and Adam's father was George Gordon of Dunrobin. No links of George's ancestors.

I am ok going forward with descendants. It is the ancestral link of the Gordons going back to the 1700s with which I have trouble.
I believe they are of the Dunrobin Gordons.
(one line was called Sutherland, but still of Gordon ancestry until the 1839s.)

On the MacKay line i am  linked to Huistean 13th Chief Mackay, 1561-1614 and his wife, Lady Jane Gordon, 1574-1615. Her parents were: Alexander Gordon and Jean Gordon. Both their lines go back to the Gordons of Huntly.
