Looking for the Nolan family from Ladys chapel, kildare:
Thomas Nolan born 1850, Kildare.....Married Elizabeth Healy in Dublin in 1866.
-
Lady's chapel is confusing.
Do you mean they married in Ladychapel? (Outside Maynooth)
Or was he from a place called Lady's Chapel? ( which I can't find)
Did they live in Dublin or Kildare?
There is a Thomas Nolan 50 from Kildare married to an Elizabeth from Dublin in Dublin in 1901

Yes thank you that is them. I recently found a prison record (I have a mad lot) for my lovely ggrandfather and the birth place is lady or ladyschapel. So I am assuming it's a place. So I presume this is maynooth. Elizabeth is from Dublin and I have her family. . But I can't find anything on Thomas other then the census and prison record. Thomas spent his life after his marriage in Dublin. All his children were born there. Looks like he may have gone to Dublin for work. I have found other nolans around his age from the 1901 census also from Kildare possibly siblings but I really have no way of telling. Any suggestions as to how to find him would be greatly appreciated. Regards CC

This is the prison record that I am going by. Even though the year of birth is off, but I have found the birth dates are rarely correct in these records.
I tried calling the church in Maynooth this morning but, they are gone until Monday.

RootsIreland has 2 records for Thomas Nolan born 1858, in Kildare quite a few more if you widen the search years.
Can't narrow down to Parish without Parents names.
I tried with fathers name as Patrick and got one result.
To see these you have to pay.
If he does come from the area around Ladychapel I think it would be in Maynooth Parish but not 100% sure.
I looked at the townlands surrounding LadyChapel church on Griffith's Valuation but could not see any Nolans.
Finding him will be hit or miss I'm afraid.

Thanks so much, I'll contact the church on Monday and see if they can look at their records. I'll let you know if I ever find him and how I did it. Regards CC

The 1866 marriage record on IG gives his parents as Thomas and Marie/Mary

their address is also 16 Blackhall Row.
Have you found any siblings for him?

Hi Hasta, no I have no siblings. On the 1901 census it says that he was born in Co Louth which is probably why I can't find siblings in the church records. Ancestry does not show him either. On the prison record it says Patrick is a brother but can't find him on ancestry. The first Patrick shows up about 1874 but I can't marry him up with a Thomas. CC

Hi there
I know it has been a while since you wrote this post but while researching my own Nolan relatives from near enough the same area I have just come across this detail which may be of interest to you: Thomas Nolan born 6 Oct 1858 to Patrick Nolan & Margaret Hopps (At least I think that's the surname), residence Ladychapel. Godparents are John Nolan and a Bridget Travers.
Also found a William Nolan born 11 April 1864 to the same parents. Hope this info relates to you.
My relatives are a Michael Nolan and Owen/Eugene Nolan born around same time but don't have exact place of birth but their father's name was Patrick Nolan.

Welcome to RootsChat Mary.
Can I just ask what parish you found Thomas and William Nolan please?

Strangely enough there appears to be a burial in Glasnevin for a Patrick Nolan age 70 in 1875 still comes up when entering 16 Blackhall Row.

Thank you Mary for this post. I haven't been working on my tree since last year. So I just had a quick look. I do have the church record for Thomas's birth. I also have a sibling Andrew but I don't know where I got him from I just have his name. I will be home in April so I hope to root around a bit more. I'll post what I find. W/R CC

Hiya D, I had a look at the record. As Thomas lived at 16 Blackhall Row before he married. I am sure Patrick is a relation. The record shows a Mary as his wife. So when I get a chance I will have to check the records and see if I can find their marriage.
Interesting note my grandfather O'Farrell was in the army and in 1923 lived at number 17 Blackhall Place.
I was home last year and had an O'Farrell family reunion in Uncle Toms it was awesome there was 22 of us. This year I am hoping for more as I have been in contact with our rellies in Westmeath and they will be joining us. :) W/R CC
