Hi

I see that Elizabeth was probably Elizabeth Keltie, who married James Flockhart in Alloa 25 July 1835 - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XTLL-J8M

In 1851, the family appears to be split up.  Andrew Flockhart (b. Alloa,  14 August 1843) is with  Uncle John Keltie, in Shore, Alloa. Also there is nephew John Flockhart, 13, b. Glasgow but not sure if it's the John in the 1841.

There is also a tempting entry on the 1851 and 1861 of an Elizabeth Flockhart and daughter Margaret Flockhart in Dunning, Perthshire but these are not the pair - this Elisabeth was m.s. Crawford, who married a John Flockhart.

A few online trees show James dying in 1857 and Elizabeth dying before 1847. I've not checked the info as yet.

You can check this via Mundia.com

Added -James supposedly marrying an Elizabeth Anderson in 1847.

Maybe James Flockheart died before 1851? There is an entry, an inventory, in the Wills & Testament section of Scotlands People for a James Flockheart, grocer from Alloa. A date is quoted of 4 June 1852. No indication what the date refers to.

There is another online tree which includes a possible death cert which shows:

1903 May Twenty-eighth 5h 8m PM
Govan Poorhouse (Former Residence 197 South Wellington Sreet, Glasgow) - Elizabeth Tyrie F 84 (Widow of 1st James Flockhart, Grocer 2nd Charles Batchen, Lithographic Printer 3rd John Boyd, Hairdresser, 4th George Tyrie, Slater - parents: Alexander Anderson, Postman (d) & Janet Anderson M.S. Kelly - Cardiac Disease & Bronchitis - informant: Elizabeth Madden, Daughter 9 Warwick Street, Glasgow

A George Batchen and an Elizabeth Anderson show as having a child here https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FQBF-T3X

I've just found an entry in the 1851, Alloa, for an Elizabeth Flockhart, 31, grocer, b. Linlithgow(shire). Could this be the possible second wife?

I think there were two wives, both Elizabeth for James Flockheart: Elizabeth Keltie, mother to the children showing in 1841:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XBKQ-2Q8
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XBKZ-JJF
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XBKC-BF7

Can't easily see children from the likely second marriage.

Just had a look on the 1851 image - it's very poor on SP but, after enhancing, her condition looks very much like 'widow'. James possibly died before then but the inventory was prepared later  (he seemed to have lots of creditors).

It might be worth looking for MI.

Also , one of the Trees has Elizabeth Anderson/Flockhart marrying Charles Batcham in August 1851, so assume that James was dead by then.

A son, Charles Batcham, died in 1857 - so wonder if the 1857 date for James came from that  :-\

Hello Seztratt,

Thanks for looking.

This one has me really puzzled.  I have 2x James in my tree but perhaps it should be one who married 2x Elizabeth.

Regards,

Fred

Hello Gadget,

Thank you very much for trying to sort this.

Both Elizabeth KELTIE and Elizabeth ANDERSON are in my tree by birth not by marriage.  I currently have 2x James and had not considered it was the same one.

I have a copy of the 1903 death certificate for Elizabeth who married four times.

So it would seem Elizabeth nee KELTIE died between 14 Aug 1842 and 8 Nov 1847.

And the James died before 25 Aug 1851 - Elizabeth ANDERSON's marriage to Charles.

Regards,

Fred

Hello MonicaL,

Thank you very much for the info re an inventory, in the Wills & Testament section of SP.

Yes 1851 Alloa Elizabeth nee ANDERSON born Abercorn - parents Alexander ANDERSON & Janet KELTIE.

Lots of the ANDERSON family were born in the hamlet of Society.

I'd better change my tree so I only have 1x James.  :)

Regards,

Fred
