Typical lol.

Thanks Anne ...... another wee question, I think I may have found my maternal gt grandparents buried in Clackmannan Cemetery ......... now, I know Logie, I know Alva, and the others, but have not one clue as to where Clackmannan Cemetery actually is :(

xx

PS ...... as I know Menstrie well, where would I head from there to track down cemetery? xx

Head for Clackmannan Village, and it's just off the Main Road/Devonway.

Have a look here: http://www.clacksweb.org.uk/property/newmaps/?x=290892&y=692598

If it's the Churchyard, rather than the Cemetery, head into Clackmannan Village and follow Cattlemarket, which becomes Main Street, then High Street and eventually you'll come to the Church.

Have a wee look here: http://memento-mori.co.uk/99.pdf

This will give you an idea of what the Church/Churchyard looks like.

If you intend a trip there, it would be  good idea to have a look at some mapping sites (Google or Bing) as all the wee places can be a bit confusing (mind you, maybe that's just me!!)  ;D

Thanks Anne  ;D

I am hoping I have the right McLarens, will need to check death certs for the dates, but my late mum was adamant her grandparents were buried, although she said in Logie, as the family lived in Menstrie, hence why I know it well xx

Don't know what's happened there - I can't get into the site either  ???

Even on the main Clackmannanshire site there doesn't seem to be anything - I wonder if they've changed their minds and taken it offline.

Very strange  :(

After speaking to Lindsay, the wonderfully helpful Registrar in Clackmannan ....

The site hasn't been officially launched yet - it was only a short trial to iron out glitches etc., but in the meantime ......

Have a look here: http://www.townswebarchiving.com/clackmannanshire/

This will link directly to the search page but the url may change at a later date as introductions and search tips have yet to be added.

I wish all councils would be as forward thinking!!

It's up and running now folks.  Finding all my Fyfe's in Alva.  No more traipsing round reading all the stones.

Many Thanks,

Christine. :)
