Title: McAlonans in Paisley or Port Glasgow
Post by: Baird on Friday 30 August 13 09:30 BST (UK)
Royal Naval records show a William John Sinclair McAlonan born Paisley 28th February 1900 on his Medal Cards, one as a Seaman and one as a Stoker.
No one of that name found being born on that date in Paisley, or from 1899 to 1902.
William McAlonan aged 10 in 1911 census in Port Glasgow , both parents from Port Glasgow but William born Paisley.
I have researched some McAlonans in Paisley and have two Johns born to same parents in 1901 and 1902.

Any assistance appreciated,
Baird

Think my mum said Bert or Burt, sounded like that anyway. My mother doesn't remember much about her parents as she was only about 3 years old when they passed away, her sisters and auntie looked after her. My mums sisters remember more as they were older. We have a few photo's of William (my grandad) but we can't seem to find a photo of Agnes, this is why I'm looking for information really..Mostly to try and get a photo of her parents together or Agnes as a child herself, so my mum can see her.My mums name is Winifred McAlonan born 11/07/1941..Do you have any other information of William McAlonan?

Ronald Patrick McAlonan died in Port Glasgow February 23rd 1921 of TB at 48 Ardgowan Street.
His parents are listed as Robert McAlonan and Elizabeth Henry.

I received some information on this family from a lady in the United States many years ago. If you can send me your e mail address I'll send it to you.

Robert McAlonan , husband of Elizabeth Henry was born in Carrickfergus County Antrim about 1837 and lost at sea off Tasmania January 1885.
