Hello,
I am trying to search for my grandfather's brother, Peter Knowles (also called Nowns years back).
He was the son of James Nowns and Mary Quin Nowns. James and Mary were married in Kildalkey, Meath.
My grandfather, Michael, emigrated to the United States. I can only find a birth registration for Peter.
Thank you,
kaknmo

You've posted this in Ireland Resources (instead of the Meath board) so it might not get noticed right away but hopefully a moderator will soon move it to the correct place.
Peter could also have left Ireland to go to U.S., Canada, England, Scotland, etc. Have you searched in the registration index for a possible death or marriage in the area? Have you checked both 1901 and 1911 census (for all Ireland) to see if he's somewhere even outside the area? Suggest also checking LDS database (www.familysearch.org).

Be mindful that birth dates on civil registrations can be different as parents were fined for not registering their newborns within a period of time, to avoid this, they gave a later birth date to the registrar.
