Here are the details:
Fawkner Cemetery - J.Stansfield-Smith Walls Companion (holds both my parents in same niche)
MCCONNELL YVONNE ADA
Birth: 19 Aug 1936 Death: 08 Aug 1989; and
MCCONNELL THOMAS ALAN
Birth: 03 Jun 1932 Death: 17 Mar 2009.
Grandparents:
Presbyterian: MCCONNELL THOMAS
Death: 04 Jan 1990
and his wife - Presbyterian MCCONNELL ANNIE BLAIR died in 1968 who is also interred in the same grave.
Grandparents:
Church Of England: TONKIN ARTHUR ERNEST
Service Date: 14 Nov 1951
I remember visiting this grave and am convinced my late grandmother is also interred there with her husband. Her name was Ada Frances Tonkin. According to FCM listing her ashes were collected -it's a mystery to me!
Many Thanks and Regards

Hi Karen,
They are on my list - your grandmother Ada Francis Tonkin may still be with her husband, I have come across this type of error before so we'll see. They "lost" my g.g.grandmother and only found her by looking up her original burial records after I sent them a copy of her death cert. stating she was definately buried at Fawkner - mistakes occur at times but we'll see what I find on the headstone (hopefully there is one - many of the older graves I have been asked to photograph haven't had headstones, people just didn't have the money in those days, they were lucky to be able to afford a plot) - looking at the map the grave shows there are 2 Tonkins and 1 Walker in it so fingers crossed. Could you please send me an email where I can send the photos to as I have no idea how to send them on this site..
Will get back to you as soon as i've been and have something for you.
Cheers,
Jillian

Hi,
Have just been talking to a member of the Fawkner Cemetery staff and found out that Eric Curtis was cremated and that his remains were put in the grave with Mabel and Phyllis - I assume the reason his name is not on that headstone is because there is no room to put it on - however normally when that happens the family put a little plaque on the grave itself however that's not what happened here unfortunately. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Jill
-
Gosh - thanks for that.
