Where was this census at, it says Jonathan and wife  not in county. The William aged 1 is my GGrandfather.

It has been transcribed on familysearch as Arnside but it does not look the same as the enumerator has written the boys place of birth.

Rosie,

Yes that's the problem having to pay for credits to view such things.

I have spent a lot of money doing this on Scotlands People. Occasionally, have paid then found out they aren't who I was looking for  :'(

Yes, she certainly got around  ;D but, they did back then, for whatever reason. Must have had reliable transport :D

Hi Cupcake, I do not know in what context you have that phrase, but it (a) means she could not write her name, so made her mark, and (b) an informant is someone who affirms or vouches for the correctness or truth or genuineness of something. ( I think)!!

Hi keyboard86,

I have it as a note for my G Grandmother:

24/6/1844 Living at Arnside made her mark as informant. Could be the latter, as I would imagine could write, when she was a  Innkeeper in 1871 at the Crown Hotel, Beetham. I could be wrong, though.
Thank you for your definitions, gives me food for thought.

I don't have FindMyPast either.

Thank you for the (London and Surrey marriage allegations, record) regarding the marriage.

Wonder why he appeared personally? Perhaps it was the normal.

I realise he would have to apply in person. Must have had one of those moments, when my brain wasn't working.

Thank you.
