Title: Newmonthill Cemetery, Panbridge, Angus
Post by: jkhansen on Monday 30 September 13 19:59 BST (UK)
I am looking for 3 gravestones at Newmonthill Cemetery:
Elizabeth (Eliza) Ford, died 1908, 15 Nov. Born 13 May 1833, Dunnichen.
James Pullar FORD born abt. 1849, Dunnichen,(yet to find his birth entry); Forfarshire. Burial date:16 March 1915.
Harriet Pullar FORD born Jun 22, 1845, Dunnichen, Angus, Scotland - died Dec 1, 1912, Panbride.
How do I find these gravestones and would dearly like a photo of them.
Thanks in advance for your assistance

Am I right in thinking that you got the burial dates from Deceased Online, and that you haven't paid to view the full record?

First, Newmonthill Cemetery is in Forfar, not in Panbride.

Second, there might not be a stone - not everyone has a stone.

Third, Newmonthill is vast, so anyone looking for a specific stone really needs to know where to look for it. There is very little chance of just coming across it, and there are thousands of stones so it could take many hours to find it if you tried to do so by looking at every stone.

What you need to do is pay up to view the full details at Deceased Online. This will tell you the number(s) of the lair(s) where your Fords are buried, and I think you might even get to see a map of the cemetery.

See

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2068929
http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2068920

Once you have got the map and know where in the cemetery the grave is, then you can ask if someone would go and take a photograph for you.

Unless the details are missing from Deceased Online there is no point asking Angus Council because they will just refer you back to Deceased Online.

I agree with Forfarian -

Unless someone already has this information , you really need to get further details from Deceased Online to progress this request.

Thanks - yes I need to go further via deceasedonline.com and check original records to find their exact spot, gravestone - a paying matter!
These 3 members out of a family 9 were the ones that stayed in Scotland. They had no children as far I am aware of. I thought the cemetery would have being broken up in certain section. That is: death period, religion... anyhow, thanks for advice.

Even if it were divided by religion, date or anything else, you would still need a map to find a specific grave. It will cost you just £1.50 if they are all in the same grave.

Look at it this way. The UK minimum wage is currently £6.31. So if it took more than 15¼ minutes to find the grave by just walking round and looking, it would be cheaper to pay Deceased Online for the information than to pay someone at the minimum wage to look for it. Do you value the help of kind souls with cameras at less than the minimum wage? So Deceased Online is actually quite a bargain!
