Hello
This is my first visit so apologies for any errors.
My 3 x great grandfather Ralph CUTHBERTSON was born in Berwick upon Tweed in about 1771 - can anyone please help me find him and his parents in Parish or other records?
I know quite a bit about his adult life - he married Ann Crewse in Dartmouth (Devon) in 1798, became a ships surgeon in the royal navy and died of yellow fever in Antigua in 1805 - but have not been able to find his birth or baptism.
Thanks

Hello
I have just found your post on this forum.
I too have an interest in Ralph Cuthbertson 1771-1805. His great grandson John George Cuthbertson 1868-1927, married my great aunt, Alice Harriet Turner.
I am compiling the Turner history & I would be interested in comparing notes if you would like to?

Familysearch have a baptism for a Ralph Cuthbertson in 1771 at Beadnell. Have you considered whether he may be your Ralph. Parents are Ralph and Jane.

Craclyn hello
Yes that's him - Beadnell is just a few miles from Berwick on Tweed where I know he was born.
Thanks for your input!

Good one keyboard86. Several possibilities for Ralph sr, but one of the most likely baptisms seems to be in 1745 in Bamburgh with father James.

Hi again, other births to the couple in Beadnell:-

Privately rcd 21st June 1767

Keyboard 86 & Craclyn thank you!
How do you access this info so quickly? (Trade secret?)
As stated my interest is not the Cuthbertsons per se, rather, the Turners.
Alice Harriet Turner 1875-1954 married John George Cuthbertson 1868-1927
Her father Samuel Turner 1840-1920 (train driver) was born in Hollingbourne in Kent, his father William 1799-1875 (papermaker) in Rickmansworth and his father Richard possibly also in Rickmansworth.
They are my real targets!
Thanks again

Thank you all for this information.
Canardlyman I am happy to compare notes but I'm not sure how to contact you separately, is there some way I can let you have my e-mail without posting it for the world to see?
-
Park Mills, if you make one more post here, then you will reach the sum of 3 which is necessary before you can access to the private message system. You can then send a pm directly to Canardlyman with your e-mail address.

Thank you Craclyn that's really helpful

You are welcome Park Mills. That last response take you up to 3, so you should now be able to use the pm function. Good luck :)
