Iam seeking anyone from the Bushey area who may have information on an Artist who lived at Royston,The Avenue, Bushey. Her name was Catherine R Chamney, she was born in 1894 and lived in Bushey until 1957c. when she moved to Sark. Two of her paintings were donated to the Bushey Museum in 1999 one was a scene in South Africa where she spent her early years the other a coastal scene in Sark Channel Isles. Would like to trace anyone who has her any of her work.

Thanks Ray
I do have all the information on Catherines family, I have followed her family from 1700c Ireland to South Africa in 1900c and then to Bushey with her family from 1920's.Then to Sark and to Co Mayo Ireland where she died in 1966 and is buried. Its her work as a painter iam trying to find information on. I know she has 3 illustrations in the Hutchinson Britain Beautiful Books 1920's. Many of her paintings came onto the market in 1990's Ludow after her late husbands death.
I was wondering if anybody in Bushey would have bought paintings locally, also is there a local newspaper to the area that has letters pages I could write to.
Thanks

The Old Dudley
"Ludlow Castle" by Miss Catherine Chamney lacks firmness but it is well composed and in colour and atmosphere it leaves nothing to be desired.

I work with La Societe Sercquaise on Sark. We were contact a year ago about some of her paintings that had appeared in a Leominster auction.
Her husband Charles Colwill married again (wife number 3) and moved back to live near Ludlow, Assume they came up after he died.
Hope this helps.

Hi, I;m not sure if Owenwee is still interested but I have two Catherine Chamney original paintings one of a lake and waterfall and one of a view through a tree. I could send you a photo of them if you are still interested. On the back of one of the pictures there is a first attempt that was abandoned. Are you related to Catherine?
