Title: McFadden of Newtowncunningham
Post by: Magh Itha on Thursday 26 December 13 16:29 GMT (UK)
My Great Grand Uncle William McFadden was born in 1 October 1872 in Clashygowan and died on 28 December 1959.

His mother was Martha McFadden (my great great grandmother) a servant and subsequently a housekeeper who died in Churchtown in 1912.

In 1901 he was an agricultural labourer and lived in Derrymore with his Mother, Aunts and Cousins.
In 1911 he was an engine driver of a road roller and lived with his mother in law at Castleforward.

He married Ellen Collins from Castleforward who lived from 1883 to 1957.
Their family were: Henry; Kathleen; William; Joseph; Mary Anne; Francis; John; Treasa; Philomena; Anthony; and Michael, the last of whom and who died in July 2004. I knew most of these but never got to know the younger generation, and they lived in a large house in NewtownCunningham, Co. Donegal.

Would be glad to hear of any of their descendants who are interest in their family history.

Hi, I'm interested in finding out about my roots in the Newtowncunningham area, and found your post, My dad was Michael Collins, he was born in Newtowncunningham in 1921, hs father was Henry Collins, and his mother was Grace McKeever, he had many brothers and sisters, Harry, Kathleen, William, Mary, John, Theresa, James, John, Gladys, Grace, Patrick, and possibly a couple I've missed, I've heard over the years that my family has a connection with the McFadden's of Newtowncunningham, but due to most of the above mentioned family members now sadly being deceased, it's been difficult to find out any info, My dad Michael moved over here to Fife in Scotland way back in the 60's, and a few others from his family moved over to Scotland as well, a few stayed in Ireland.
Thank's for taking the time to read this, and hopefully you can let me know more about a possible connection, I'm sure ther is one, also,  let me know what you think.

Kind Regards
Vincent Collins.
