PCC wills (PROB 11) have now been uploaded to Ancestry.
England & Wales, Prerogative Court of Canterbury Wills, 1384-1858

Does anyone know when these were put online? They are not listed in Ancestry's recently added collections page — they seem to have given up on their co.uk site. I found them a couple of days ago and have been very busy since looking at "possibles" which I would never have purchased from TNA, even at the very reasonable price of £3.50.
The link is: http://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=5111 (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=5111)

Thank you for this :)
I can now have a look at a number of wills that may help my research, but which I could not justify buying individually, rather than going to Kew.
Lots of transcribing ahead I think.

I think they've probably only recently been uploaded because I only noticed them on Saturday when searching a name on the whole site, rather than specifically in one of the data sets. Ancestry don't always advertise the new sets immediately they are uploaded, so I suspect they will be added to recently added collections page at some point. ;)

I couldn't find the database either, took me ages to scroll through. I think in the end I just g* it and have bookmarked it. Ancestry don't make it easy ???

Best way to find individual databases is via the Card Catalogue, in the dropdown Search menu on the toolbar.
If you have the exact title of the database (as I originally posted it above), you can enter that in the Database Title field; otherwise, do a Keyword search (e.g. Wills, Canterbury ... whatever).
As always with Ancestry, it's best to enter minimal search terms and sift the results, rather than enter a lot and possibly miss the target database because they've called it something daft ;)

Thank you for bringing it to our attention, Bookbox.
Am off for a quick look now... ;)

Hi,
Many thanks for the heads up about these, have now found one will I didn't have. Brilliant! Seven pages in length consisting of the will & 2 codicils. Now I just have to read it! ;D With the style of writing & I suspect a lot of legalese it might take a while! ;D
I wonder how many more I might find?
My thanks again.
Kind regards
David
