Title: WWI - Frederick John Locke
Post by: hatmaker on Thursday 09 January 14 21:24 GMT (UK)
I have been searching, with very little information, with regard to my grandfather Frederick John (Jno) Locke born Trealow 1899.  The only information I have was he joined the army as an underage soldier to work with horses, but this did not materialise and he ended up working as a dispatch cyclist and during his career served with the Blackwatch.  If anyone has any information, or would be able to let me know where to search I would be grateful.

Hi

Most of the WW1 records were destroyed in WW2 air raid and only 30% survived, so I don't think you will get much info there, I am not sure if there are separate records for the Blackwatch, it may be worth checking at the local Archives

Thank you for your assistance, I have been fortunate and managed to research back to 1530, it is the military side I have been struggling with, I have contacted the Blackwatch, but not with any success, will try again.
