Title: Patrick Mulvey
Post by: Templar75 on Tuesday 11 February 14 23:27 GMT (UK)
Hi Folks,

it is a longshot I know but I am try to trace Patrick Mulvey who married Rose Ward possibly 1820 they had a daughter called Ann born around 1827, she died in Scotland in 1901 aged 74.

Patrick is down as being a Tennant Farmer, the web states that Leitrim was the main hub for the Mulvey name so that is why I am trying here.

All the records here show is that Ann was born in Ireland, I wish they had put down where.

Any help would be great please, thanks.

Best regards.

Archie

Afraid you really need a location (not just a guess because surname is common in an area) to start looking for pre-registration information in Ireland.

Hi aghadowey,

thanks but as I said it was a longshot can you guide me please how to look for them or is it a needle in a haystack.

Cheers.

Archie.

Pre-registration you need to search for church records to find marriages and baptisms but many church records will not start much before mid-1850s. To start searching you need to know the family's religion and where they lived (parish if not actual townland) and then see what records survive for that area.

It is a needle in haystack.. even if you found one is it the correct one??

http://search.freefind.com/find.html?si=13812782&pid=r&n=0&_charset_=UTF-8&bcd=%C3%B7&query=Mulvey&s=leitrimstones

if she had younger siblings they might have applied for Pension but alas no...

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01gn9/   gets you 5 Wills...

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01gna/   gets you 27 Mulvey Wills where you might spot a sibling   ??

...and they might not have been from Leitrim!!
