Hi All, Does anyone have any information on my great great aunt (Marjory Donaldson Horrton)? She was born in 1886 in Bendochy, Perthshire, Scotland, her parents being Peter Ferrier and Marjory Donaldson. In 1911 she emigrated to Canada with her elder sister and brother; Jane (Jean) and John, on the Hesperian vessel from Glasgow to Quebec. Two years later her younger brother Stewart and Thomas also emigrated to Quebec. What information I do have is her brothers and sister all settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba and she marrried a man called Fred Horton in Vancouver and had at least two sons.
I don't know when and where exactly they were married, any information on Fred and children (births, marriages and deaths) or when Marjory died. Could anyone help?
Thanks
Darren

Have you followed up on all the other brothers and sisters ? If we could establish some info on those, we may even find obituaries which could help the search.
Looks to be a possible death for a Stewart Ferrier - Born 2 August 1891 and died 23 Mar 1939

Hi Sandra,
The information that you have given is all correct (apart from Stewart and Thomas were both in 1890 not 1891). Marjory is the only sibling that I don't have any tabs on. She was one of ten children; Peter Jnr., Duncan, Jane (Jean), Euphemia (died in infancy), William, John, Marjory, George (my great grandfather), Stewart and Thomas. Are we related?
Speak soon!

I've discovered the reason you have had problems finding Marjorie... she married Frederick Munns Horner (not Horton). ;)
The 2 May 1922 edition of the Manitoba Free Press has a brief write-up of a tea that was held in honour of Marjorie Ferrier who was married to Fred. M. Horner "the Saturday last". For reference, 2 May 1922 was a Tuesday. It doesn't say where they were married and I don't see a marriage for them in Manitoba although there is a marriage for a Marjorie Mackenzie Ferrier to Frederick William Gorner on 29 Apr 1922 (which was a Saturday) in Winnipeg. It is possible this could be a really badly mistranscribed entry for your Marjorie as the date matches. Here is a link to the Manitoba Vital Statistic genealogy database which has instructions on how to order a copy (cost $12 Canadian) if you want to check it out: http://vitalstats.gov.mb.ca/Query.php (http://vitalstats.gov.mb.ca/Query.php)
Marjorie died in Vancouver on 10 Aug 1958. Here's a link to the death registration: http://www.rootschat.com/links/0y4v/ (http://www.rootschat.com/links/0y4v/)
Frederick died in Vancouver on 24 Jan 1962. Here's a link to the death registration: http://www.rootschat.com/links/0y4u/ (http://www.rootschat.com/links/0y4u/)

There is an obituary for Frederick Horner in the Winnipeg Free Press which indicates he was survived by his two sons and a sister. If you would like a copy of the obituary, please PM me your email address and I will send it to you.
I've also found an obituary for Marjorie in the 11 Aug 1958 edition of the Vancouver Sun. Here's a link (look to the left of the heading titled "Funeral Directors"):

Hi all! Is there anyone out there the sons of Marjory Donaldson Ferrier later Horner? She was born in 1886 in Bendochy, Perthshire, Scotland, emigrated in 1911 with siblings Jean and John. Marjory at some point later married Fred Horner and settled she died in 1958, Fred died in 1962. I know from Marjory's obituary that her sons are Douglas and Duncan Horner. If anyone is the sons or even grandchildren of Marjory and Fred could you get in touch.
Thanks

June wife of DJ Horner died 11 September 1979 Vancouver BC - husband was the informant.

Perhaps contact Vancouver Library to see if you can get an obituary for June which would help identify any children.

Hi Darren. I've just found your posts on this site and think that we are distantly related. Peter and Marjory are my great great grandparents. Their son John Alexander Ferrier who emigrated to Canada with his sisters was my great grandfather. I've only just discovered that John was the father of my grandfather John Ferrier McKenzie who was born in 1907 illegitimately. I've been working on this for some time and am delighted to finally have found out who my grandfathers father and grandparents were. I live in a village called Inchture which is 14 miles from where Peter and Marjory lived with the children. I've been trying to find out if John who married Doris Hallaway had any further children. I've found his death record and their marriage record but am having difficulty finding Doris' death record although I believe that it was in 1988. Andy Page.
