Could someone kindly supply a phonetic description(syllable breakdown?) as to how this placename would be pronounced locally?

Regards
Roger

There is a place name Cloondagauv in Co. Galway near Portumna in the south east of the county
Famous for a castle belonging to the Burke family

The name comes from an Anglicization of the Gaelic/Irish;
Cluain dá Dhamh which translates as the "meadow of the two oxen"

It is pronounced, as three syllables: Clue in - Daw - Gaw fhh

Many thanks for the full and speedy response.I have seen a number of slight variants but you have the right place.I was trying to determine,,if in oral memory,it could possibly be confused with Clontarf.I thought the d might possibly be pronounced as a t,but had no clue about the ending.I have seen it Anglicised as Clandegoff(or similar).

Roger
