Title: HARRY BUCKLEY from Blackburn
Post by: mel g on Friday 28 March 14 13:03 GMT (UK)
Hi, my maiden name was BUCKLEY my dad was HARRY BUCKLEY. His father was GEORGE HENRY BUCKLEY, he maried a MARTHA HOWARTH in 1898, they had a son in 1899 called JOHN PLATT BUCKLEY but he died aged one in 1900, my dad was born september 1905. They lived in Blackburn, but did'nt come from there, we think they came from THURSTONLAND (her) and THURLSTON (him) YORKSHIRE. We think though that there are links to SADDLEWORTH.  In BLACKBURN they lived on LANCASTER ST, they had a CHIP SHOP ( cencus ). My grandad died in 1925, aged 54, and grandma died 1955 aged 82/83. She re-married and became Mrs Edmondson. Would like to know if there were any brothers & sisters on grandads side.  Thanks for reading.

Looking at the daughters name Clemence
I think this may be John`s baptism
Baptism: 18 Apr 1819 St Leonard, Middleton, Lancashire, England
John Buckley - son of John Buckley & Clements
     Abode: Middleton
     Occupation: Weaver
     Baptised by: John Haughton Rector
what do you think ?
if it is Johns baptism this may be his parents marriage
Marriage: 16 Nov 1813 St Mary the Virgin, Prestwich, Lancashire, England
 John Buckley - (X), Tong
 Clemence Taylor - (X), Tong
     Witness: James Boardman; Edw. Redford
Married by Banns by: Jno. Fallowfield

Clemence Taylor - Daughter of Jeoffrey Taylor & Ann

Jeffrey and Ann Taylor had a daughter Clemence Taylor bap 26th sep 1779 - was buried 25th oct 1780.....same church ....
do we carry on - or are we not sure of John Buckley baptism ??...I think with his mother being Clemence and his daughter being named Clemence , we are on the right track ??

Hi, thank-you, lots to go on, we had heard that they were quarry men!   Dorothy Mary not a sibling of John Platt Buckley, his only brother was my dad born Sept 1905. in Blackburn. ( as far as we know no other children born - unless they died - we were only aware of John Platt Buckley. But Platt is an unusual middle name !!! Also don't know where his grave is or how he died! Thanks again.

Hi, me again, as we know John Platt Buckley is not part of our Buckley clan, but trying to find a death / burial place is proving to be hard for John Buckley - 1899 - 1900. We think that they were Methodists. ( if any help ). With your help we have established that ( cencus - 1851, 1861, 1871, & 1881 ) our grandad had 3 sisters, & 2 brothers, and lived in Thurlstone ( 1871 - aged 10 months ), if anyone can throw any light on to the brothers & sisters it would be much appreciated, hope this makes sense !!! haha ( don't know if this name is any help but one of his sisters was called Clemence A Buckley aged 15 ( 1871 cencus )  thanks !
