This excellent Mauritius database is in French and there are 3 ways to search it: direct search, advanced search, or Levenshtein search. The direct search is the easiest to use - just type a surname into the "Recherche directe" box one the left, and click on "chercher".

Thanks so much for sharing this
So much information to be found for free on here

Why do they block me? If I understand correctly I'm not supposed to take more than a certain amount of info..? I have not taken anything yet - I am searching for the baptism of someone, and I am going church by church in the birth year parameters. It seems now I have to wait until 20 March before I can continue my browsing.
Thanks,
Leona

This will take you a lot longer to trawl though and you'll need to know the commune, year etc, but you might find something. I think it covers 1728-1811.

Île de France was a former name for Mauritius.

Thank you. I'll keep the link. I was looking for 1860's.
Is there a place one can find passenger lists for immigration to Durban, South Africa from Mauritius?

Just been on this dateabase, it appears that you now have to log in to search and its all in French.

It will be in French, but if you find relevant names I’ll translate…
