Title: Memorial in Carnew Church
Post by: Marmalady on Wednesday 16 April 14 11:34 BST (UK)
My 5xGreat Uncle William Wainwright (1740-1813) was Agent for Earl Fitzwilliam's estates in Wicklow.

After his death, Earl Fitzwilliam erected a memorial to him in Carnew Church. I have a newspaper report from the time (York Herald 13 Dec 1817) with a transcript of the memorial. It must have been quite a size as it has two long paragraphs describing how he was equally fair to both landlord and tenants in his work.

Does anyone know if the memorial still exists?

To prevent doubling up on research there is a thread on this subject by Marmalady dated June 2011 "William Wainwright secretary to Earl Fitzwilliam?".
