If you can help please contact me by private message.

This information is not available from public records in South Australia.  There is a 75 year embargo on marriage registrations.
http://www.cbs.sa.gov.au/assets/files/bdm_four_in_one_form_14.pdf

As both parties are deceased you could post the names.  It is possible that someone may recognise the names or there may be an online tree.  It is also possible that a death notice/s may mention the wife's maiden name.

Cheers  :)

Hi Cando,

Thank you for the reply.

Do you mean that there are NO indices available to the public ?

The event took place at St.Bede's, Elwood, South Australia on 18 April 1975.
My wife even has their wedding photo album..  but not the Brides maiden surname!

Umm.. can you tell me the name of a Local Newspaper that covered Elwood in 1975?
I did check the Ryerson Index.

Regards
JonJon

St Bede's, Elwood is in the State of Victoria not South Australia.  Elwood is a suburb of Melbourne, capital of Victoria.

Online digitised newspapers only extend to c1954.

Victorian marriage certificates not available for 60 years after the event.  Online indexes extend to 1942 and many of us have our resources.

The Herald Sun and The Age are the main newspapers in Melbourne.  Perhaps there may have been an engagement notice or marriage notice in the Personal Announcements.  If the wife had distinctive given names it may be possible to identify her in the online electoral rolls to 1980.

St Bedes has been re-developed....
St Bedes, Multi-Storey Residential Development and Church Conversion (20 units in total), Ormond Rd, Elwood ($8M)

Where and when did these people die?

Hi again,

Thanks for the follow-up.

The bride's given names are Larraine Mary Florence.
She died in South Australia in 1998 and these names are from the Cemetery Records.
My wife and I only knew her as Larraine.

Regards

G'Day Cando & Essie,

Essie has correct ID of married name DoD and cemetery.

Her husband Gordon died in WA last year.

There are NO Names in the photo album.. as is too often the case.
Come to think of it very few photo's have the name on the back..
.. and some that do are glued to album pages .. so can not be read.

I'm off to bed soon; it's after 9 pm Thursday in Toronto.

Cheers

Hi

It looks like there were notices for Larraine in the Adelaide Advertiser on the 20th Jan 1998 and 21st Jan 1998, her parents may be mentioned in the notices.

You could use the Ask a Librarian Service at the State Library of South Australia for copies of those notices.  Mention the details are from the Savill Index For Funeral Notices and could they please check the death notices as well.

Hello Jonathan,  I have just discovered this website and so I am not very good at using it so replying back through this post!  It would have been nice to meet Dad's mum and dad and his sister's and family.  Never knew a lot about Dad's side of the family.  I think they would have been interesting. He was a character full of life. Very determined and deep, he wouldn't always share what he was thinking or feeling.
I have been on ancestry.com trying to do my family tree I think I have got a lot of information from you to fill it in! :-)
I did see one of Dad's sisters.... Barbara I believe to be your wife past away, I am sorry. I think his other sister was Isabel? I don't know I couldn't see her. Has she gone as well now?

Hi Michelle,

Yes your Aunt Isabel died 6 Dec 2015.
I believe Uncle Dick is still alive.
They had 3 children & 6 grandchildren.
No grandchildren here, just 2 boys.

FWIW I am on facebook and my ancestry username is JonathanGentry86
Another website used is GenesReunited.

FYI about 2 years ago; (*) & I have exchanged emails including photos.
I believe these were send on, at least to (*).

Cheers
Jonathan

Lovely to see a good outcome! (I wish connecting with Ancestry trees was that easy for non-payers.) The Advertiser (Adelaide) notices for Larraine Mary Florence Leishmann for 20 and 21 January 1998 attached.
