An online tree has the married surname of Ernest's sister as WECKESSER. married 1937. The tree has no info about her parents or brother. It does say she was probably born in Victoria, BC, Canada.

Her parents married in Victoria British Columbia, Canada in 1916:

Arthur & Eleanor Weckesser are on the the 1940 census together in Portland and both are on the Social Security Death Index, which you can find on www.familysearch.org.  There appear to be obituaries available for them for a fee on www.obitsarchive.com

If this had been put on the Londonderry or Ireland boards I would have been able to fill in some of the details at the time.

Robert Moffat was born 18 July 1888 Coleraine district (Aghadowey sub-district) according to his birth registration. His parents were Thomas Moffatt & Catherine Riddel. The place of birth on his attestation papers is supposed to be the townland of Cashel which is not far from the town of Coleraine. Robert has quite a few siblings and his brother Thomas had 14 children! (one of them was our neighbour) so there's a large family circle here.

Annie Caldwell was born 5 Jan.1889 Coleraine district, mother's name Baird.

I have more information on both families which I can post if anyone is interested.

aghadowey, yes, please do!

I'm curious.  You mention that Robert's birth record indicates that he was born in 1888 (which was the year that my family had provided me prior to my searching), but the scan of the attestation paper states a year of 1889.  Which do you feel has a higher weight of accuracy?

The birth registration, since it was done at the time, rather than his attestation papers filled in years later.

Do you want details of the Moffats or the Caldwells? or both?

Both would be ideal.  Very little info was passed down to my generation about either.  My uncle has a photo of Robert from WWI wearing his uniform and sitting on a horse (I'll need to have him scan that one), but aside from a few names and dates, that's about it.

There is a HUGE connection here (and some abroad) but will take me a while to type it all out.

Have nearly finished tryping up the Moffatt information- just have to type out details for about 20 marriages  :)

Caldwell family details are more scattered among other things in my files so will take a bit longer.

Thomas Moffat (c1804-1 Dec.1888), blacksmith, Craigmore

Aghadowey, when it says "Craigmore", are you under the impression that that would be where he was currently living at the time the record was made, or where he was born (or grew up)?

Craigmore was where he lived but not sure if that was his birthplace

Hi aghadowey,

I know it's been a couple years, but I figured now is as good a time as any to circle back around.  :)

By chance, would you still have data from the Caldwell line accessible in your records?

Regards,
