An interesting offer - thanks Adrian.
Requests can be made by posting on this thread or by Personal Message to Lancaster103.

If the offer is still open I would be interested in photographs of the graves of:
Ernest George Scott (Plot KK grave 90)
&
Joseph Frederick Alexander (Plot RR grave 46)
for my website www.westberkshirewarmemorials.org.uk
Any additional information would be welcomed.

Sure!!!! Here they are.
-about J.F.Alexander I can add that on the 15th March 1945 he testing a new aircraft Tempest MkV(SN133) which had arrived that day at Volkel airfield in The Netherlands. He was unable to get the undercarriage down. After many unsuccesfull attempts he radioed that he was going to belly land his aircraft. Joe touched down the radiator dug into the ground turning the aircraft onto his back, exploding and killing him.
- About Sgt E.G.Scott he was the midupper gunner of a 44 Sqdn Lancaster LM592 , and shotdown on their way to Wesseling oil plant 21/22 June 1944 by a German Nightfighter. Aircraft exploded which killing the entire crew. Aircraft crashed near Riethoven in a hamlet called Walik.

If you are able, could you please post a photograph of the following:
Alfred William Shearman, plot RR grave 34.
He was in REME, and died on 17 February 1945.
Thanks!
-
Sure no problem. Will send you the pics tomorrow OK??
Cheers,
Adrian
-
That's great - thanks Adrian.
-
Are you related???
-
Indirectly - Alfred was my husband's grandfather (he's now next of kin).
-
OK interesting. Do you have more info about him and perhaps a pic?? Do you know any circumstances how he died??? Was it an accident??
-
I've got nothing at all - no photos, no records. My husband's mum was 9 when he died in 1945, and she was always told he died of a heart attack. I don't know whether this was true, or whether it was an accident, but I'm going to order his service records to try and establish what happened.
-
That is sad realy sad. I hope that you will know more in the near future to order his records. I have records but only RAF men who died and buried on this cemetery. I am afraid i don't know much about army soldiers. Maybe the REME have an Veterans Association and have any records?? Anyway will send you grave pics tomorrow.

Adrian
