Title: Peter Robertson b1834-37 Fortingall Perthshire
Post by: maggiejay on Tuesday 29 April 14 19:55 BST (UK)
Looking for help in tracing the death of Peter Robertson - he married Chetrine (Catherine) Douglas on 27th Dec1860 in Bohally Foss Perth age on marriage certificate 26. His father was Peter Robertson and mother Helen Lamont/Lamond. His wife Catherine died in 1918 in Madderty Perthshire. I have him on 1901 census and on his daughter's marriage in May 1903 he is deceased. I have tried to find his death but no go. I presume it was between 1901-1903 but you can never be sure. I am in touch with his family in Canada who are coming over in May to visit where their ancestors lived and I would love to be able to find out where and when he died for them.
Thanks for any help with this

Hello

Thanks for getting back to me.

In 1901 he was in Blair Athol. I have viewed that death certificate and it is not him although the age is right!

Hello again,

I have viewed both of them also 1903 in Stirling. He is a mystery! I have had before in my family tree((my husbands tree) two siblings who married 1883 and 1884 and the father was alive in 1883 and deceased in 1884 but he had gone to Australia and remarried there so I wouldn't rule anything out. Thanks again for your help

The last that we have on the family was at Forkins, Spittal of Glenshee (1881 census).

Where did they go after that date?

I am sure they are at Dalreach Blair Athol in 1891 and possibly Wabrecich Blair Athol in 1901

There are two Dalriach settlements - do you know if it is Bohespic or Glengarry?

Where did the 'Wabrecich' name come from?  It doesn't match anything on our place-name database.

If you can provide a little more information we'll have a look at the original entries again.

Hello there-thanks for your help. In the 1891 census Dalreach is under reg.district and civil parish Blair Athol - if it helps his son David Douglas Robertson b 1873 was at Glengarry Public School in Nov1887, Same for 1901 census Wabrecich is under same district.

Hope this helps

Thanks again

Thanks.  Yes, its Dalriach of Glengarry in the 1891 census and they seem to be the only family.  Only Maggie and John are at home. I wonder where David was working.

Wabrecich is probably WDalriach (West Dalriach).  East Dalriach had disappeared by this time.  Need to check the same reg. district in 1901.

Did you check for deaths of Patrick as well as for Peter?  As a shepherd he could have died just about anywhere between the Highlands and the Lowland markets.

I have gone through Peter/Patrick for deaths. I will go through SP again and see what I can come up with.

In 1901 census David was a tailor in Crieff then he left for New York in 1909

Cheers
