Title: *COMPLETED* York St. Saviour 1770s lookup for Preston burial
Post by: jon541 on Monday 05 May 14 12:45 BST (UK)
Hi ... I'm always reluctant to ask for lookups but this is a frustrating parish in that it has evaded to date any form of print publication or online transcription (before 1780 anyway) and my chances of getting to the Borthwick this year are small.  So I would be genuinely grateful to anybody who is a Borthwick habitué(e) and who'd be willing to do a quick lookup for me.

The burials from 1780 are included in the NBI but I'm looking for someone who I know was alive in 1771 (aged approx 70) and dead, I assume, by 1780 (since he's not in any of the York parishes included in the NBI).  His name is Roger Preston and his family seemed to choose to marry at St. Crux but to get buried at St. Saviour.

I have bought the YPRS register transcription for St. Crux and he's not there so St. Saviour is now hot favourite ...  If St. Saviour is like St. Crux then there aren't many burials per year and so I would hope that I'm not asking for more than 5 minutes of someone's time in requesting a 1771-1779 check.

Thanks,
Jon
P.S.  He's not the Roger Preston d. 1795 and buried at St. Saviour - that's his son!

I've ordered the relevant MF for my local LDS centre ... I don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place.
