Hi,
I'm looking for a marriage that happened around 1830 - 1832 probably in Stanton Lacy.
The groom is Edward Humphries (Humphreys etc.) and the bride was Mary.
Any help would be appreciated.

When/where were they born?
Where did they live?
Childrens names/pob please.
If all else fails a birth cert of a child born post Sept 1837 to them will have her maiden name .

Hi Trish,
Edward was born around 1801 in Stanton Lacy according to the 1861 census return.
They lived in Cold Weston according to the 1841 & 1851 census'. Unfortunately I don't know where Mary was from, as in the 1851 census return it just gives their place of birth as Salop, and by 1861 Edward was a widow. The 1851 shows Mary as being 7 years older than Edward.
All 3 of their children were born before General registration, so unable to make use of any birth certificates. :(

I have had a look around with my limited resources but cant confirm any Marriage.
I cant even find the Childrens Christenings.
Trouble is they may have had Children prior to 1832 that are not on the 1841 Census with them.
There are several possible Marriages to a Mary for Edward pre 1832 on Familysearch.Org
Or Mary may be a second Wife and not the Childrens Mother.
This is the 1841 for anyone who may be able to find Christenings;
Edward Humphryes 35
Mary Humphryes 35
Elizabeth Humphryes 9
Helen Humphryes 7
Richard Humphryes 6

Looking at the 1841 census and the birth of Edward - both are in the Ludlow area ...so presumably the children are born in the Ludlow area

Shropshire ......and also in Ludlow area is Richards Castle - could this be Elizabeth Humphreys baptism

Ludlow to Richards Castle = less than 2 miles
Ludlow to Stanton Lacey = less than 4 miles
Ludlow to Diddlesbury = 6 miles
Stanton Lacey to Richards Castle = 5 miles
I would say that baptism of Elizabeth in Richards Castle is a good possibility for your Elizabeth ?

If you start looking at children it all starts to get rather complicated.
My direct ancestor was Richard Humphreys. He was born in Ludford in 1835. I have his baptism record confirmed and his parents were living at Saltmore. Now after extensive research I believe the Ludford baptism to be his even though it gives the father's name as Richard. I think this may have been a clerical error.
I too thought that Elizabeth (1832) could be the one in Richard's Castle as it's 1.2 miles from Ludford. I have not been able to find Ellen's baptism.
In 1841 they are in Cold Weston. In 1851 Edward is still in Cold Weston living next door but one to Richard (his son's) future family (the Medlicotts).
Unfortunately, this still doesn't get me any closer to finding Edward and Mary's marriage. :'(
There is a possible marriage in Ludlow in 1827 to a Mary Hughes, but how can I find out if this is the right one?

Just a quick update.
I noticed that they have put lots of Shropshire records onto Find My Past. I have taken out a months subscription and have now found another possible marriage.
The one mentioned previously in 1827 to Mary Hughes. Both first time married. .... and the second
in Stanton Lacy in 1831 to Mary Watkins. Both widows.
So how do I choose which one if either? ???
Edward was born Stanton Lacy. The 2nd marriage details state that they were both from Stanton Lacy.
The Children seen to have been born nearer Ludlow though.
Any Ideas?
