Title: Request to help find Brljevich Ancestors
Post by: dynelight on Thursday 22 May 14 05:48 BST (UK)
Hello. I am trying to find more information on my Grandfather.
His name was Stanko Brljevich. I know he was from Momici near Mertkovic, Croatia.
He emigrated around the 20s or 30s. He traveled to the US, and then I know he traveled to Costa Rica.

I found this document regarding one of his travels to the US:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KXHX-4J2

I also know his mother's name was Mustapich and her parents were Ivan Mustapich and Kata Vlavich.

Thanks for your help!

Edit: I was too hasty to submit my reply.
It seems that some Brljevich from Momici have ended up in New Zealand.
I also came across with this. It would be interesting to know if he is related to Mate Brljevich.

Hi,

I'll try to find your ancestors..

There are some Brljevichs in Costa Rica today..

I don't think Mate and he were brothers because his father's name was Ivan and Stanko's was Josip, possibly relatives...

I can tell you immediately that you grandfather is not from Slivno. He and his wife were married in that parish because she was from Slivno. There are Bjelišs even now in that area. Sometimes it was a custom to marry in the parish of the bride.

It is a custom even today in Neretva valley.

I'll see what i can dig out

Hey

i misread the birth certficate. His mother was Mustapić, not Bjeliš.

I managed to dig your grandfather's father Joseph Brljevich (Josip Brljević) birth certficate. So please send me your e-mail in private message so i could send it to you.

And about the relation to Mate.. boy i was wrong. Yes they are related. Joseph and Mate were brothers.
So it means your grandfather Stanko was Mate's nephew.

So it means we are related because i'm Mate's grand grandchild  :) :)

Please send me your e-mail so i can send you birth certificate.. i also have the names of Joseph's father and grandfather if you are interested..

Hi

Ive been drawing up my family tree and want to find out so much more but keep hitting a brick wall. I am trying to find info and find out if Ante Marko brljevich is 'Tony' and if Ante Brljivic is his father.
