Post by: grantleydawn on Friday 23 May 14 07:08 BST (UK)
Can anyone please help me locate the following family in the 1851 & 1841 Census returns?

The following children were all baptised at Alton, Stafford, England with
parents of James BURTON (butcher / farmer) & Ann
- Emma BURTON baptised 19 Sep 1811
- Louisa Jane BURTON baptised 18 Dec 1813
- Eliza BURTON baptised 3 Dec 1815
- Mary Ann BURTON baptised 13 Jul 1817
- James BURTON baptised 8 Apr 1819
- Hannah BURTON baptised 18 Mar 1821
- Elizabeth BURTON baptised 15 Dec 1822
- William BURTON baptised 29 Apr 1825
- Edward BURTON baptised 11 Dec 1826
- John BURTON baptised 11 Aug 1828
- Ann BURTON baptised 3 Jul 1831
- Charles BURTON baptised 3 Feb 1833

I believe that I have the sons James & William in Tasmania, Australia in 1854.

Regards
Grantley

Thank you very much.

I wasn’t expecting the results that you found for William in the 1851 Census.

I was hoping for “single” status.  :(

It would now seem likely that I am following the wrong family.

I must now revisit my workings.

Thanks again. A great help.  :)
