Thanks again guys.

Will keep looking into everything. Might start looking into another part of the family as well while keeping this going.

Do I have have to start a new topic so as not to confuse the 2 and everyone else?

RedWolf0502 … the CORRIE family in England, looks an interesting trail to follow, if you haven't done so far.  I have had a bit of a look and getting good results.

With the MILLERs, looks like 'ScotlandsPeople' site after your exhausted English records.  Bonnie

Hi Bonnie

Unfortunately Scotlands People means "send money"   ;D

I see you have Prussia in your list of ancestors.  I am currently trying to help a friend with research there and it is proving very difficult.

Any suggestions?

Noells.

Found Archibald and his wife Mary in 1871 and 1881 still at the same address in the Liberty.  Archibald's occ given as tinplate worker. Mary Martha is not shown with them.
Edit - thanks, Bonnie, no red light till I'd already posted

Archibald's marriage:
29 June 1845, in the parish of St Thomas the Apostle
Archibald John CORRIE, bachelor
full age, tinplate worker, of 8 Church Passage, father Archibald CORRIE, tinplate worker
Mary PICKTON, spinster
full age, of 2 Church Passage, father Charles PICKTON , schoolmaster
Both signed.  Witnesses: Charles John PICKTON, Sarah Susanna PICKTON

There was a double wedding that day as John PICKTON married Elizabeth Martha CORRIE - PICKTON and CORRIE parents are the same as already given

From the England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966 we see that Mary died at Vestry House in London, 7 October, 1882.

Administration of her will with an estate of 77pounds and tenpence, was granted to her husband Archibald John CORRIE, tinplate worker, of Vestry House, Church Passage, Chancery Lane.

But if I read this correctly:

Quote
Archibald John CORRIE, bachelor
full age, tinplate worker, of 8 Church Passage, father Archibald CORRIE, tinplate worker

Then Archibald's father was also called Archibald?
Title: Re: William C. Miller
Post by: judb on Sunday 25 May 14 13:56 BST (UK)
That's how it reads, RedWolf - unless the church clerk got it wrong, but, given the father's name and occupation is the same for all of these marriages it would seem to be correct.

Goodness me - another CORRIE-PICKTON marriage

31 Dec 1844 at St Dunstan in the West, city of London, both of full age.
Only one address is given: Church Passage, Chancery Lane
Sarah Susanna CORRIE, spinster, father: Archibald CORRIE, tinplater
Charles James PICKTON, bachelor, printer, father:  Charles PICKTON, deceased
Witnesses: Charles Walter? MARTIN, Rose Ellen ELLIS.

I cannot see a baptism for Archibald John who gives his birthplace as Greenwich on all census entries.  I see two baptisms at St Marylebone, each with parents Archibald and Sarah CORRIE.  Occupation given for Archibald: trade

Sarah Susanna CORRIE, baptised 14 May 1815
Henry CORRIE, baptised 12 July 1819

You will recall that Charles John PICKTON and Susanna Sarah PICKTON were witnesses for Archibald and Mary's marriage 6 months later.

Apart from asking on here where would be a good place to start looking for Archibald Snr's wife? Should I also start asking in the England section of Roots, or can I keep it all here for ease of access?

Thanks

Also I want to start on the Budden side, with Eva Cora Budden. Would I need to link this topic with the one on the Buddens or do I keep it seperate, not thinking there would be too much crossover....although you never know.

As you are wanting to go back further with Eva Cora BUDDEN it seems sensible to me for you to start a separate new thread on this Australian board with her name in the heading.  A link to this thread is easily made but you are looking at her family before she married so this thread is not so relevant.

This seems to be her birth, so it's probably better to stay with Australia for the time being for her.

NSW 1886 #24166, registered at Murrurundi, New South Wales
Eva C BUDDEN
Parents: Frederick W Budden, Emily A

There is a public tree with a lot of information on Ancestry.  You would need to verify it though as lots of these tree copy each other's incorrect information although one of the trees has some good references so perhaps the info is ok.

As for Archibald snr - I can see some possibilities for him but haven't time to pursue them today.  Posting on the London board, again with a link to this thread may be worthwhile.

Hi to everyone who has helped with this topic. I'm updating things as I have just found a potential next generation of Millers.

So far we have:

William C. Miller b. 1886, d. 1966 m. Eva C. Budden

James C. Miller b. 1850, d. ? m. Mary Martha Corrie 1880

And now this new potential father of James.

William Miller b. 1815/16, Roxburghshire Scotland, d. ? m. Helen
Helen was born 1815/16 in either Selkirk, Bridgelands or Roxburghshire Scotland depending on if you look at the 1841 census or the 1851 census.

So this is a good thing.

Still a few dates to flesh out and double check but this line is looking good.

Cheers

:D
