Could your dob's be out a bit? There is a possible death for Mary Jane in York County in 1898, but estimated dob is 1866 :-\
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/J63Y-G68
ADDED: If this is his second marriage then his dob is given as 1869, which would make the above more likely.

previous post on the Burnie family
1891 census Alexander is with wife Mary
1894 marriage to Elizabeth
1913 marriage to Ada (nee Dixon)
1926 Ada's marriage to Donald Carpentier
At least it gives you a timeframe for each relationship.
Previous suggestion to check FamilySearch Ontario Roman Catholic records. You have to browse through them but if Alexander remained Catholic his death might be found in those records.

thanks to both of you yes i found these facts and no this is not Mary Jane who died they had a son born in 1890 together
-
oops that still might be her sorry
-
If Edward Alexander remarried in 1894 to Elizabeth Johnston, chances are his first wife Mary had died (presuming divorce was quite expensive then) You would be looking for a death somewhere between the 1891 census and 6th August 1894.

thanks Sandra that is time period i have been looking

Elizabeth Burney, d/o Joseph Castor and Clara Vanleuven, had married under the surname Johnston in 1894. Her death in Uxbridge was May 19, 1913 at age 51. Alex Burney of Uxbridge informant. 2nd section of the death registration refers to her as Mary Elizabeth. Alex remarried for the 3rd time quickly - perhaps he married Elizabeth in the same short timeframe after his first wife's death.
-
Yes he did remarry quickly to ada hutchinson in 1913 for the third time it is his death and his first wife mary jane I cannot find
-
I realize that - I'm just trying to add details to the thread and observations which might help you to think about the problem in a different light.
Have you found the family in the 1921 census yet?
In the previous thread you mentioned one of the sons using his stepmother Ada as his next of kin on his WWI Attestation papers. Why not his father? Had his father died by that time? Something to consider.
Sometimes you never do find documents for individuals.

The image of the registration for that death indicates Mary was single and Catholic. As well she died in Muskoka County, not York County.

i think the mary in muskoka might be a niece

have you found either Ada or Alex/Edward on the 1921 census?
-
Ada might have married Donald Carpentier in 1926 but she is living with him in Sutton West on the 1921 census as his wife. Her sons, Nicholas and William Hutchinson are also in the household with them.
-
Cosmac i think they were married in 1920 but thanks for letting me know about her sons didn't know about them
-
Have you looked at the actual marriage in 1886??...as it says he married Mary Jane "Gordainer", born circa 1857 daughter of Peter Tebo and Mary Ann Godfrey. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FMJ5-7V5
In 1861 Georgina, York, Ont census she show as 7 years (b. 1854)
