been researching my nans parents side of the family and having trouble finding correct birth for thomas william hankinson?

What sort of era are we talking?
When/where did he marry? Do you have an age at death?

thomas died around 1894 in holborn?

Have you found him on any censuses? What else do you know about him?

he was married to Caroline hankinson nee culling and they had 8 children.

So, his birth was around 1825.
As this is before Civil Registration began (1837) you will be reliant on a parish register record of a christening, if he was christened.
Where does he say he was born, on the censuses? That will be the parish to start looking in.

I think Caroline died, he remarried 1875 in Shoreditch as a widower, to Elizabeth Martha Lane, a widow.
His father was Thomas John Hankinson, an appraiser.

Looking at the family in 1861, he says Spitalfields then too
And in 1851, so very consistant!

Sorry, I was still working on your original question about Thomas's birth! Have you looked at any PRs for Spitalfields?
As to children after his marriage to Elizabeth, need to look at that 1881 census and see ifthere are any (1881 is free to search).
Modified to add - doesnt look like it. In 1881 there are just some children ferom his marriage to Caroline, and some step children with surnmae Lane, obvioisly Elizabeths from her first marriage. She is age 50 in 1881 so unlikely they go on to have any.
