Hi All
Is anyone related to the Hutton's of Aspley and Sibley's of Husborne Crawley.
Please feel free to get in touch.
Cheers Sandy
-
Hi,
Notice you posted this back in 2005 but thought I'd say hello - I've just joined here and am indirectly related to the HC Sibleys.
My great great grandfather's brother Frederick Grace married Ann Sibley in Jun 1879. There are one or two other Grace-Sibley overlaps too - but even more indirectly related to me!
I'm mostly interested in the Grace family who moved around HC, Aspley and Bedford between 1800-1900, although John Grace from whom they are descended came from Leighton Buzzard (born 1793)
I have most of my Sibley info from here:
http://sibley.family.users.btopenworld.com/home.html
And have otherwise been reliant on Ancestry.com resources to date. Have got to the point where I think I'm going to need to refer to parish records though...so looks like a trip to Beds might be in order (I'm in Hampshire)
Cheers

Hi Laura
I know of Paul Sibley.
You can find all the Bedfordshire Baptisms etc on the I.G.I. (familysearch)
as it is well covered for the area.
My line is.
Thomas, William, William, Job, Alfred, my grandfather.
Just ask if you need more help and I am sure the nice
rootschatters here will assist.
Happy New Year 2009.

Thanks Sandy - happy new year to you too!
Just found the right site for searching the IGI so making more progress now. I'd done the initial search on the main home page and not come up with much but now I've found the link to the search by parish page I'm really getting somewhere :)
Think I'll plan a visit to the area anyway though - it's not somewhere I've been to before and would be quite nice to have a wander around the villages. The other side of my family are Welsh and we've had a couple of great weekends in Pembrokeshire/Cardiganshire visiting the villages there - in one case the cottage where generations of my family lived is still standing, albeit it in ruins - be quite nice to see if I can find the same thing for the Grace side of the family.
It seems everyone on here is very helpful so will certainly be back if I need more help once the IGI trail runs dry
By the way, have been struggling with 1871 census returns for this area - seems to be a big gap here whereas I can trace the Graces in every other year. Do you know if there was a problem with the 1871 census in Beds?
Thanks
Laura
-
There's no problem with 1871 Beds so far as I'm aware. Who can't you find?
I have the Husborne Crawley PR transcript (up to 1812) if you need anything checking

David,
Thanks for the reply. Looking for:
Daniel Grace
Wife Elizabeth
Children Mary Ann, George, Joseph, Julia, Frederick, Sarah, William
I have them in Aspley Guise in 1851 census, then Husborne Crawley in 1861, 1881 and 1901, but cannot find any trace in 1871.
Also looking for Daniel's brothers:
Thomas and William Grace who again I have in Husborne Crawley in 1841, 51, 61 but then nothing in 1871
Thomas re-appears in 1891 in Newport Pagnell (nothing in 1881 as far as I can see). William would have been 57 in 1871 so perhaps died before then...
Just seemed odd that the family pretty much all lived in Husborne Crawley through the years and yet nothing at all for 1871...
Thanks
Laura

Hi Laura
There only 4 pages of the Husborne Crawley 1871 census as the others were ruined.
Hence hardly any families.
Sandy
-
Ah, that would seem to explain it then Sandy
Pretty sure they were living there, and it doesn't really affect my knowledge not having the 1871 census transcript itself - was just for the sake of completeness that I wanted to fill in the gap!

Hi Jim
Welcome to Rootschat.
It looks like we are related then :).
Job's son Alfred William (aka William Alfred) is my grand-father.
As previously mentioned you can view more info about the family here.

All of the baptisms, marriages are on the familysearch site for
Bedfordshire pre 1812.

Hi Sandy & Tazzie,
I'm somewhat of a newbie to researching the Sibley family.
Do you know where the Sibleys came from before H C ?
Luckily I found Paul's website previously and got the basic line back from there.
I will try the IGI family search to fill in more detail.
Nice to know two more relations
Jim
-
Hi again Jim.
Luckily a lot of what Paul has on his site I gave him from original records.
Confirming it with Parish Records etc is always the best method.
I am afraid that Thomas was not from Bedfordshire and myself
and an Archivist at a Record Office could not confirm 100% his
birth place of origin. :(
I know it would be easy just to accept a possible link, yet it would not
be the correct way to research my lineage.
Sandy
-
P.S. Jim.
Are there any details you are able to relate here.
Sandy
-
Hi Sandy,
Im afraid I have nothing further to add - all the info I have has already been posted
Jim
-
Never mind Jim.
Hopefully your tree branches will grow now you have made links.
All the best.
