Hi Rosie,
Yes, but have not found a match. She may have been a spinster.

Hi Rosie, I have just tried this one and it does not fit either. This is Sarah Jane Hall Burns, other name Weir, died 1936 age 67. Must be getting closer!

Have you also considered the possibility that she may have been married?

Hi Craclyn,

She was a spinster of 58 years at Valuation Roll 1920. This does not preclude marriage but I have tried the statutory marriages but nothing matches. When I implied earlier that she lived at 173 Bruntsfield Place this was wrong. I now see from the Valuation Roll 1920 that she was the proprietor of this property but actually lived at 1 Howe Street, Edinburgh. She is on various Public Member Trees on Ancestry but none have death detail.

If you lose all trace of her in Scotland then it may be worth trying south of the border. May she have gone to live with a niece or nephew in England and died there? I would take a look to see if there are any Sarah Jane Burns of the right age who died in England after you Valuation Rolls date.

Hi Hume,
Many thanks for this information. Yes, this is the lady in question so the mystery has been solved.
However, I am puzzled as to why she has not shown up in my previous searches of SP which covered the death date, age and location you found but was sensitive to SARA v SARAH within SP's field
"Forenames that begin with"
Thanks again.

Hi Geoff,

SP can be tricky at times. I used wildcards (i.e. Sara*) to make sure I was picking up all variants rather then relying on SP to offer variants etc.
