I know there is little chance of anyone recognizing this family, but then you never know!
These photos were originally in an album of my grandfather's and in two of them my grandmother is standing on the left. My grandparents lived in Queensberry between Halifax and Bradford, but eventually moved back to Undercliffe, close to where grandad was born in Eccleshill. I have a very faint memory that I was once told that the photo was taken when they were visiting my parents who lived in Heacham, and Hunstanton during the depression years of the early Thirties, and that the Roberts Family were known to my grandparents in Yorkshire. But the cottage in the photo's could be anywhere in England.

Well we now know that this is a Reginald Roberts, his wife Ellen (nee Loose) and their children. But how my grandmother knew them remains a mystery ....for the moment.

All I can suggest is research the 1939 register on info you know that may give addresses to your ancestors and then look up addresses on maps like google street view.

Bear in mind though places like Halifax/Bradford and Huddersfield got bomb battered obliterated roads ablaze as well as Sheffield WW2 blitz and 1950's/60's slum housing clearance projects then new council house estates built in volume.

Possibly a search of electoral registers - some are online with the major sub sites

Thank you both. I have made contact with a grand-daughter of Ellen Roberts so waiting to see if she knows where they were living.
