I didn't know if after a certain date in Scotland weather it was like England where you had to look up parish records or weather it's done all on the scotish credit system ?
-
Birth, marriage and death certificates did not start in Scotland until 1855. Before that date you have to look in the parish records (known as Old Parish Registers or OPRs). Both sets of records can be searched on the ScotlandsPeople web site, which is pay to view and what I assume you mean by the "Scottish credit system".
Parish registers are notoriously incomplete, and some are missing. There is a page on the ScotlandsPeople web site which tells you what records for which years are available for each parish.

Hi,
To answer your random question hannahlee Scottish people do not get free access to Scotlandspeople although saying that it is one of the better sites for accessing records and is definitely much cheaper than most sites.
Unfortunately there are not many sites free when researching your family I wouldn't like to guess at how much I personally have spent over the years on my research that is why we are very lucky that the folks here on "Rootschat " do all they can to help us.
