Any help with this family most welcome :
Patrick Gavin married Westport 1897 to unknown but possibly Ann Egan
Father of Mary Kate born 1897 and Bridget born 1900/1901
Family may have relocated to Tullamore at some stage.
Apology for sketchy information at this stage but really need a first stepping stone.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Scatty
Have you tried looking for the family in the Irish census of 1901 and 1911 -
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
After searching for a Bridget and Mary Kate I can't see a Patrick Gavin with wife Ann.
-
I think the match to Patrick Gavin 1897 Westport is Bridget O'Brien
Looks like the couple at 1 Carraun in 1901 Bridget Gavin age 30 in 1901 and 41 in 1911 they have a daughter Mary Kate born about 1900 but no Bridget.
1911 census says 13 years married with 6 children born and alive.
Perhaps your Patrick got married in a different district than Westport.

I see you have Gavin,Co Offally in your profile is their something you could give us to work back from.
Why that date and district of Westport.

Looking at the updated GRO site:
http://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp
Only 2 children named Bridget Gavin were registered in Westport between 1900 and 1901.
Bridget Gavin b 28 Jun 1900 Mother's maiden name: Kerrigan
Bridget Gavin b 27 Oct 1901 Mothers maiden name: Gannon

Thank you all for the replies and suggestions.
According to the 1901 census my grandmother Mary Kate Gavin circa 1897 is residing with her aunt and her Colsh relatives, age 4 in Tullamore, Co Offaly and her father Patrick, age 42 is at home and married at 22 Quarry View, Tullamore.
By 1911 Patrick, Mary Kate age 14 and her sister Bridget age 10 are still at Quarry View but Patrick is now widowed. This I can confirm are my correct family.
My problem being that I have been unable to find any marriage or births in Co Offaly which match, only a death for an Anne Gavin in 1901.
It is only in Westport that I have been able to find marriages and births which tally in dates and may be this family, thus I have posted to this board as well as on the Offaly board..
My thinking is this and I would very much welcome your opinions :
Patrick and ? were married in Westport abt 1896/7. Mary Kate born there 1897 and at some stage the family moved to Co Offaly. Could it be that Mary kate is boarded out in 1901 at around the time of her sisters birth back in Westport, this might account for her mother not being at home on census night. It may be the case that her mother returned to Offaly with new baby and died shortly afterwards in Co Offaly in 1901. How possible do you think this may be ?
All ifs, buts and maybes at this stage I'm afraid
Again, very grateful for any thoughts.
Best wishes to all

It is strange that marriages and births don't seem to show in the indexes.
It maybe worth getting the death certificate for Anne Gavin in 1901 - her age is shown as 46 yrs :-\ but ages can vary.
In 1901 there are these entries for Tullamore workhouse :-\
A G female 40 yrs married born Tullamore - she is in hospital with rheumatism
B G female 1 yr born Tullamore - not in hospital so presumably in the workhouse

Not sure if 1901 records are available, but there looks to be some records at Tullamore library here (http://www.offaly.ie/eng/Services/Libraries/Local_Studies_And_Archive_Service/Local_Studies_Service/Local_Studies_Service.html)
It would also be worth obtaining a copy of the death record for Anne Gavin Scroll down the page (https://www.welfare.ie/en/downloads/Death_Application_Form-English.doc) and you will see that a photocopy of the entry is 4 euros
