Title: Canterbury Registry Office
Post by: Annielizz on Thursday 17 July 14 13:21 BST (UK)
I'm trying to find where the Registry Office in Canterbury used to be during the 1940s/1950s and would appreciate it if anyone can tell me.  I know that after that time it was relocated to Stour Street and has now been moved again.  I have a vague recollection of a relative telling me that the Registry Office used to be located in the Dane John gardens, but this may be incorrect.

Thanks

In 1954 the Superintendent Registrar was at 80 Castle Street, Registrars of Births and Deaths at 76 Castle Street.

Going back a bit further, Kelly's 1938 Directory of Kent has:-

Superintendent registrar: G W Marks, municipal offices, Dane John.
Registrar of marriages, births & deaths, Harry Rose: 80 Castle St.
