Title: Presteigne. James Bounds
Post by: Cynfran on Tuesday 22 July 14 21:16 BST (UK)
Could someone kindly try and find a parish birth record for James Bounds, born Presteigne area (census states 'Llanbister') about 1796, hopefully naming his parents. I believe that he married 'Jane' and they continued to live in Presteigne. Thank you.

Hi Cynfran,
I can't help you with the baptism, but the following may be of interest.
Source: Powys Family History Society, St Andrew, Presteigne, Burial:-
An Edward BOUNDS was buried 20th June 1850, aged 55.

A Childs Birth Cert will give you Janes maiden name :)

Llanbister is a fair way from Presteigne, if he was born there the church record are at Powys archives and/or the nat. library wales, familysarch seems to start at 1831 for the church there.

this is probably of no help but nat library wales has a Marriage bond for evan jones llanbister to Margaret bound St harmons 1794.

at least there was  a Bound family in that area in the right timeframe

Thank you -
Victor - For the Powys lead. I have got some Edward Bounds in the tree, but at the moment none seem to have died around 1850!
Trish - Yes indeed, but unfortunately won't help with James' origins.
Mazi - Sounds as if it could be the same family. I'll follow it up.
