Afternoon all
I've recently purchased a will for a Joseph Goater in my family tree. It's lovely curly writing but quite hard to read - it seems to make a reference to a bequest to a natural daughter had before marriage - can anyone make out the name of said daughter & mother (if present).
Many thanks ;D

(from line 20)
... I give and bequeath to Mary the natural daughter
of Mrs Jay of Wayford Wood which she had by me previous to her marriage the sum of
fifty pounds which I direct to be paid her when she attains twenty one years of age and I
give the like sum of fifty pounds to my natural child Ann Warnes the daughter of (*)
which I direct to be paid her when she attains twenty one ...
(* There is no mother’s name, though a gap at the end of the line, with no filler, implies an intention to add one.)

WOW! Thanks Bookbox that's fantastic ;D
Naughty Joseph though nice of him to provide for all of his offspring :)
Any idea how I would find out any more details about the daughters? Am assuming Mrs Jay's daughter would be under her maiden name?
Thanks again I am very grateful for your input :)

Am assuming Mrs Jay's daughter would be under her maiden name?
Not necessarily. She might have taken her stepfather's surname. :)

You're right - it just gets more and more complicated :)
