Title: Indian Ocean (1942) and Far East (1945)
Post by: Connie Sparrow on Tuesday 05 August 14 16:13 BST (UK)
My cousin and I have had a "yabbadabbadoo" moment with the receipt this morning of our uncle's naval service records which gave more information than we'd previously known.

What I'd like to know is what action was going on in the Indian Ocean in 1942 and the Far East in 1945 that would have involved the Navy.  Can someone point me to some sites please?

I don't have any more detailed information at the moment, specific dates or ship/s at them moment.  I can refine my search when I have more details.  Unfortunately 20th century history wasn't taught when I was at school.  The logic was that since it was within living memory, it wasn't history!

Thank you  :)  I can see why GUS didn't talk about his experiences.
