Help please Norfolk
Father was Lewis John Jillings from Thetford, then farmer at Bridgham, a bit of time in London, after in Lodden - doing what and living in Bungay Road.
Mother (my side) Dorothy Turnbull, of Sunderland, died Loddon in 1920, followed by husband a year latter.
My Two Ladies:
Doris May Jillings, who married Charles.L. Beaulieu in 1920 in Wangford ( just before mother died) .
Shows up again in 1927 & 1930 When Canadian Army sent Poor Ronald's ( her brother's) Medals to her , then living - 115a Carlyle Road South Ealing London. Then death in Norwich 1969.
Even less on Gwendoline, Married Henry M Cornish of Hackney, in 1921 1b 944, then death ALSO in Norwich 1982 .
What happened to them, did they have children, and how did they both end up in Norwich?
Further back info on this Jillings family can be found on Durham Forum under :
"Tammy married her daughter off - Ellington Family"
Important notice : To avoid boring you silly, go straight to pages 26 & 27

Usimg FreeBMD, looking for Births, with a surname of Beaulieu, and a Mother's Maiden Name of Jillings throws up 5 births from 1920 to 1935.
But I can't see any births for Cornish-Jillings?
I'll leave you the fun of looking them up for yourself! ;D ;D
-
Uhm
That looks like a good start, thanks and will have fun, see if I can get it to work for me this time.
Also have never been certain of how to get hold of Electoral rolls, can you help on that one please, the older I get it seems the difficult it gets searching !!

Electoral Rolls are usually held at local libraries, or record offices.
Those for London and Surrey are available through Ancestry.
BUT . . . . they are compiled by address, so you need to have an address to search for! ;D

Thanks again
Don't live in U.K. So bit of a problem, think will try Norfolk records office, or maybe there is a Historical Society there.

Think these might be the correct children for Doris May as mother's maiden name given as 'Jillings'
It appears that Doris May and Charles, went on to live in Fulham, first before South EALING, as their first son Peter L. C. was born there in the last quarter of 1920, then they seem to have moved to Brentford, when second son Anthony .M. was born in 1923, thereafter they seem to have stayed in Brentford, ( so where South Ealing came into it I don’t know, unless the Canadian Army were given the wrong address, and that could be the reason, why I saw Ronald’s Medals up for auction in Canada ! ) The following three children were all born in Brentford – Derek. J in 1926, then the two girls – Sheila .M in 1931 and Audrey .A. in 1935 (3a 335). Mother Doris died in 19 69 age 76 yrs in Norwich Norfolk.

FreeBMD shows you the Registration District that the births were registered in.
Each Registration District consists of a number of parishes!
Brentford RD contains/contained the parishes set out here:
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/brentford.html
So it would be perfectly possible for the family to be living in South Ealing - and the births registered in Brentford RD. ;D

Hello Westoe
Thanks once again, that has well updated that one, also found that Peter.L.C married in Eastbourne in 1945? but still to find out Who ?
Anthony M.J. seems to have been on London City Electoral roll in 1964 & died in 1982.
Still hoping to hear from LODDEN group, on what Dorothy & Lewis Jillings were doing while living in Bungay Road.

As I said before - use FreeBMD! ;D
Using surname = Beaulieu
Forename = Peter
Dates+ Mar (qtr) 1945 to Dec (qtr) 1945
and searching for marriages
Results in one marriage!
Marriages Dec 1945
Beaulieu Peter L C Bush Eastbourne 2b 191
Clicking on the page number (191) gives:
Beaulieu Peter L C Bush Eastbourne 2b 191
Bush Joan D Beauliou Eastbourne 2b 191
Durrant George A Harmes Eastbourne 2b 191
Harmes Eileen M Durrant Eastbourne 2b 191

Try entering only the data I typed!
Do not select a district or a county!

Ahhhhhhhhhh - at last
Thanks, think have the hang of it now - and Derek . J. married Stella M.V. Mann in 1950 at Ealing ( though FindMyPast seem to think he married a certain Miss Forrest ?).
Now the really sticky one - Sheila.M. and Audrey.A. -how ( since they are, or would be my age ) do I find if they are still alive, as on their maternal side, I can now take them back - thru Norfolk and Durham to their roots in the 1700's in Devon, a somewhat long, but interesting trip.

Uhm, FreeBMD gives our Audrey's D of B as Sept 1935, - she is down as a Canadian citizen, with their Passport, and Sailing from France ? Is there another way of checking, do you think, as am aware that France had quite a few 'Beaulieu's themselves. Maybe the London address could be one of the Brothers, Peter appears on London 1959 Electoral roll ( but don't have 'Ancestors').

Not quite right, John!
FreeBMD has Audrey's birth as Registered in the September quarter, 1935!
So she may have been born in July, August or September - or even June, as you had 6 weeks to register a birth!
And sailing from Southampton.
-
Hello John,
Check your emails - quickly, quickly - think I've got something useful for you. Have to send it offlist as person may still be living.
Cheers,

Hello John,
The above quote from KGarrad is important in the case of Duncan Wilson on your other thread. You reckon he was born in 1884, but ... if 6 weeks allowed to register a birth, then 19 December, 1883 IS a possibility.
The Duncan Wilson whose death in 1977 you found and discounted was born on that date. I suggest that you send for the birth certificate of "your" Duncan and check the date of birth. If it matches, then you know.
The reference for the birth certificate is:
District - Morpeth
Volume - 10b
Page - 338

P.S. Any idea of what his sister Madge's proper name was? Margaret possibly? The thought occurs that they might have been twins, since she was seven when she died in 1890.
-
Hello again John,
No, they weren't twins. I've looked through the newspapers, but no luck finding birth announcements for either of them. However Madge's age is given as 7 years and 7 months when she died 7 March 1890. That would have her born approx. August 1882. Her notice was in Newcastle Courant on 15 March 1890, Glasgow Herald 10 March 1890 and is also listed to be in the Dundee paper, but I couldn't find it there.
Louisa's death was in the Newcastle Courant 29 Nov 1890 - a very brief squib - not as many words as in the Sunderland paper where cause of death was given as pneumonia. Do you have these? If no, I can email them to you.
Cheers,
Westoe
