I have a Peter Chilton & wife Ann (nee Pritchards) who lived in Wellington and moved to Dawley at some point. I'm not sure what districts the Wellington census covers but I would appreciate a look up.
So Peter Chilton (b 1777) and wife Ann (b 1778)
Their children
Mary (b. 1800), Peter (b. 1807), Fanny (b 1814), Henry (b 1817) and Eliza (b 1820).
I have Ann as a widow in 1851, and two possible Ann Chilton's in 1841 (still to clarify which is correct)
Thanks.

The census was carried out every decade from 1801, though most early ones were just head counts.
If you see http://www.1911census.org.uk/1821.htm (or more detailed info at http://www.essex.ac.uk/history/documents/research/RT2_Wall_2012.pdf ) it shows which of the early census schedules were more than just a head count. Some did households and some individuals.
Apologies if it sounds terse, but just pointing out that information before 1841 does exist, too many people assume it doesn't, its just the 1821 Census for Wellington is one that has more detail. There has been offers for look-ups on this census given in this forum, so I am posting a request here. :)

You are correct.
I found the 1821 census for Wellington many years ago in Birmingham Central Library & was able to identify several ancestors.
